Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 艾丽莎·杜什库,加利·艾尔维斯,汤姆·马洛伊,蒂莫西·赫顿,迈克尔·艾恩塞德纽约，一名女童在登上一辆汽车后遇害身亡，女警梅根（艾丽莎·杜什库 Eliza Dushku 饰）调查此案，她敏锐的意识到被害女童的姓与名以及案发地三者的首字母相同，但除此之外毫无线索，梅根为查案用尽办法，然而却一无所获，反而梅根本人的精神压力日渐累积，她开始看到被害女童的幻影，终于精力不支甚至选择自杀，最后不得不接受精神治疗。两年后，再次有符合首字母规律的女童被害案件发生，此时的梅根不顾上司反对，再次介入调查，她和搭档在排查多位嫌疑人的同时，这位针对女童的“首字母杀手”作案愈发频繁。梅根究竟能否拼贴出凶手的真相？ 本片根据真实案件改编。
