　　张家口治下的顾家沟村里，四个老光棍聚在村头闲聊：梁大头在1966年为女社员贴身义务教学，结果付出了一只手的代价；顾林在1945年的光景上演了一出釜底加薪计只为摸两把姑娘；六软12岁成亲，但初夜经历却不堪回首；老杨（杨振君 饰）则三十年和同村二丫头维系着地下情，时常把收入输送给后者补习考大学的儿子，而二丫头背着村长丈夫，同时和多名光棍保持关系……　　老杨萌生了结婚的想法，花六千块从人贩子手中买下一名年轻漂亮的四川女子，村中人眼热，年轻力壮的俏三尤为突出。不久四川女子寻机出逃，俏三帮老杨将人截回，这次接触却令四川女子决意和俏三组成家庭，这打破了村中的平静……

　　一天，罗杰（杰夫•丹尼尔斯 Jeff Daniels 饰）和安妮（朱莉•理查德森 Joely Richardson 饰）塔所养的斑点狗在和主人散步时一见钟情，罗杰和安妮塔也因此走到了一起。不久，两只斑点狗就生了一窝小狗。一家人生活得十分开心。　　这时，安妮塔的变态老板想用斑点狗皮做一件皮衣，在遭到了罗杰和安妮塔的拒绝后，她派人掳走了这窝小狗。罗杰夫妇一早醒来发现小狗不见了，急切里四出寻找，然而音讯全无。两人的爱犬这时按捺不住，在动物朋友们的帮助下，独自前往了虎穴……

Ante (Goran Bogdan) is a peasant from Dalmatian hinterland, a son of an bull fights organizer, and skilled insurance salesman. He is known by his powers of persuasion. At the voting for the Law for animal protection, biggest controversy is considering bull fights. Sonja (Judita Frankovic) is from Zagreb, an inveterate activist fighting for animal rights. In Dalmatian hinterland nobody can understand her attitude. They conclude that Sonja, regardless of the declared intense love of animals, would not dare stand in front of a bull.
